dally

walk and explore

Little walks. Faraway places.

Dally is for people who just like to walk. Press Walk, put your phone away, and every walk carries you along a famous road, with a stamp for each café or park you planned to pass. No streaks, no pace, nobody to beat.

It's midday where you are. Dally's sky follows yours.

Hops and stamps

Plan a little walk. Collect every stop.

A hop is a walk with a few stops: a café, a bakery, a park. Reach one and it's stamped. Get them all and the last one turns gold.

  • Search places, pick a kind like Café or Park, or drop a pin
  • Save places from Google Maps, Apple Maps or an Instagram location
  • Stops in any order. "I'm here" if the GPS misses

Walk together

One road. Up to 20 of you.

Start a road with your family, your friends or the office. Everyone's walks move the team along. Send a cheer. Nobody is ranked, and nobody is left behind.

  • Add people with a Dally code, a QR code or a link
  • Pick a team name, a crayon flag and a mascot
  • People you add see your week's km, never your routes

Your walker

Someone to walk with, every time.

Pick Ada or Max, any skin and hair, or the cat walker, the corgi, the magpie, the lorikeet or the wombat. Your walker waddles in step with you and cheers at every stamp.

  • Tap who came along: a dog, a pram, a friend or the kids, and they're drawn walking with you
  • Every walk is named for its hour, like "Golden-hour walk"
  • One walk can count on up to three roads at once

No account to start. No ads, no trackers. If you sign in to walk with people, Dally's server keeps your name, your Dally code and your walks' numbers. Never where you walk.

  • Privacy zones hide up to three places you choose on the pictures and clips you share
  • The first and last 200 m of every shared route are always left off
  • Export your walks as GPX files, or delete everything on this phone, any time

Questions

Good to know.

Do I need an account?

No. Dally works with no account. You sign in with Apple only when you add a person or walk a road together.

Do I need an Apple Watch?

No, your phone is enough. A watch adds heart rate, and steps the phone missed, through Apple Health. A walk recorded on a watch alone comes in too.

Does it work on a treadmill or indoors?

Yes. Pick Outside, Treadmill, or Indoors at home or the office. Indoor kilometres come from your steps, so they're shown as "about".

What if I jog part of the way?

Dally is made for walking. If you jog part of the way, the walk's page shows it as a run.

Who can see where I walk?

Nobody, unless you share it. Your routes and map stay on your phone. People you add see your name, your walker and your week's days and km, never your routes.

Does it use my location all the time?

No. Location is used while you record a walk. "Always" is asked only if you turn on "Out for a walk?", which offers to record a walk you've already started.

Is it on Android, or outside Australia?

Dally is for iPhone. At launch it's on the App Store in Australia.
